Televisions

The television has been commercially available since the 1930s but in the last several years has evolved from a simple display device to a highly interactive appliance. Strides in technology have also changed its appearance making it easy to blend televisions into healthcare facility aesthetics. The "old black boxes" are "cool" again and translate into positive patient outcomes.

D&L offers a wide-range of television products from UL-listed "Healthcare Grade" LCDs to commercial large screen units. Understanding how a television will be used is important in choosing the correct unit for a particular area. Large waiting areas where the television is on most of the time require panels that are less likely to "burn in." Smaller areas with televisions that will be handled often require a more durable unit.

Commercial televisions are built to withstand the rigors of a non-residential environment. Heat, durability, safety, interfaces and menu features/access are important factors to consider when choosing a commercial grade unit.

It is of utmost importance to install healthcare grade equipment in patient areas of a medical facility. The standards governing the use of healthcare grade equipment are set by the NFPA and UL6500 is the standard for healthcare grade equipment. At D&L, we take these standards seriously and pay close attention to the proximity of a television to a patient area.
